My name is Karolina Jaszecka.
I am Polish, I live in Barcelona and I work worldwide.
For a long time, my dream was to become a diplomat, so I studied Law and graduated in International and Political Studies (specialized in the European law). At the same time, knowledge of foreign languages has allowed me to develop in the field of translation and interpretation (since 1989).
I have started translating books in 2010.
Some coincidences, wonderful people whom I met along my professional path, and many books that I have read led me to start a literary scout activity in 2011.
I specialize in Spanish and Catalan literature.
I also make reader's reports of Polish books on demand.
I am a literary scout for Spanish and Catalan literature, covering general adult trade fiction/non-fiction, children, YA literature, and comics.
My job consists of developing relations with Agents and Editors, discovering the hottest new manuscripts before anyone else does. I prepare reader's reports and recommendations. I attend the most important book fairs.
My collaboration with Clients is based on regular communication to keep up with their needs and provide them with the tailor-made services. In addition to my knowledge of the book market, I rely on my experience and intuition.
My adventure with translations and consecutive interpretation started in 1989.
My fields of expertise were:
-business presentations and literature,
-legal documents, international treaties, and understandings
-real estate documents (for construction developers)
- film subtitles
- press interviews
At present, I am translating mainly books.
I translate from Spanish, Catalan, and English into Polish, and from Polish into Spanish.
